Small children within the age group of 3 years do not actually know that what is truth and lie. They may start crying just to gain the attention of elders or also tell lie just because of your angry tone of the question.
- Between 3 to 7 years: –
This stage of life is full of imaginative world and fantasies. Children cannot figure out the difference between reality and imagination. They start considering them as big enough and tell ties for no reason.
- Above 8-10 years:-
After reaching this age group, it becomes easy for a child to understand what is right and wrong. In this age, most of the reason behind telling lie is intentional such as:-
- Hiding mistakes
- Not understanding something clearly
- Parental restrictions

- From birth to three years: –
As you know that this is the initial stage of life and children even don’t know that they are lying. Detecting their lie is easy but it becomes confusing that how to react because you cannot punish a small child of this age group. In that case, give a mild and diplomatic response for their lie. Let them know that you catch their lie and it makes them unhappy.
- Between three to seven years:-
Around the age of 3 and four, a child starts understanding the world and can respond to your questions. Whenever you catch their lie, let them explain completely what they are trying to say. Then catch their lie and make them clear that this is lying and why it is not good. While responding to their lie, give some strict reactions with warning tone so that they do not repeat this mistake again.
- Above 8-10 years:-
At this age, they clearly understand that what is lie why it should be avoided. If they start making it a habit for benefits like school leaves, homework ignoring or anything else then be strict. Tell them clearly that these kinds of lies will not be tolerated and punishment is also applicable.
Since the childhood, teach them the value of moral codes and reasons to avoid lies whether it is small or big. Do not ignore it because this may become a habit that ruins the complete future child.
